Bo Nix undergoes second procedure on repaired ankle: report
Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix underwent a second procedure on his surgically repaired ankle last week. The procedure took place with Dr. Norman Waldrop III in Birmingham, Alabama, according to an ESPN report. Nix originally fractured the ankle during the Broncos' 33-30 overtime victory over the Buffalo Bills in the NFL divisional round on Jan. 17.
Nix had initial surgery two days after the injury. Broncos head coach Sean Payton addressed Nix's recovery after Day 3 of the NFL Draft on Saturday, describing it as a scheduled recheck. "He's doing great. We're excited about his progress. Nothing to report," Payton said. Nix has stated during the offseason that the ankle would not be an issue.
Last season, Nix completed 63.4 percent of his passes for 3,931 yards with 25 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He led the NFL with seven game-winning drives, rushed for 356 yards and five touchdowns, and posted a 24-10 record in 34 career starts as the Broncos won the AFC West at 14-3.
The Broncos missed Nix in their 10-7 AFC championship loss to the New England Patriots, turning to backup Jarrett Stidham. Nix enters his third season as Denver's starter and is expected to be ready for training camp, though his offseason program participation may be limited as it begins Monday.
