Indiana Pacers point guard Tyrese Haliburton, a former Iowa State Cyclones player, posted on X ahead of the 2025 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament, advising fans to "make one bracket and stand on it."[1]

The men's and women's tournaments begin with first-round games on Thursday, March 20, 2025. Haliburton, speaking to Fox News Digital, described entering multiple brackets as indecisive, saying, "I think it’s just so lame that people are like, ‘Oh, I made this many brackets.’ Like, dang, how many brackets do you get? That’s not how it works."[1]

Haliburton selected his alma mater, Iowa State, to win the national championship in his bracket. The Cyclones, who finished the season 25-8 overall and 13-7 in Big 12 Conference play, earned a No. 2 seed in the Midwest Region.[2] They are scheduled to face No. 15 seed South Dakota State in the first round on March 20 at CHI Health Center in Omaha, Nebraska.[2]

A one-season Cyclone in 2019-20, Haliburton averaged 15.2 points, 5.9 assists and 3.7 rebounds per game, leading the Big 12 in assists en route to an NCAA tournament berth.[3] He acknowledged some logic in alma mater and realistic brackets but stood firm on his Iowa State prediction, citing their performance in the competitive Big 12.

Haliburton is partnering with Reese's on its Bracket Busting Campaign, which encourages fans to share busted brackets on social media using #ForAReesesSweeps for chances to win free products and tickets to the men's or women's Final Four and championship games.[1] He also participated in a Bracket Summit with New York Liberty's Breanna Stewart and analysts Richard Jefferson and Andraya Carter.
